Rock Band Unplugged Review

Have you always wanted to take your Rock Band stuff on the go without the hassle? We’ll look no further, Rock Band Unplugged is here and it’s pretty sweet to take you band on the go.

For all your rockers out there Rock Band Unplugged is a smaller of the Rock Band Games, and it’s a very interesting port why you ask? Well, not only do you play one instrument, you play all of them, which really gives you a challenge. When I first picked this game up I didn’t have a lot of high hopes for this game but as soon as the notes came down the screen I was hooked instantly. I was ready for anything that came down but of course were all not perfect when playing Rock Band. For Rock Band Unplugged, you take the role of a band since the PSP cannot use any of the crafty instruments that your bought for your system. From the game you can pretty much customize your band to the way you want them to look and start your career to become famous rock stars.

You start out as all rock bands do, doing small time gigs to earn your credit bit by bit. Once you’ve done the smaller gigs of course you begin to earn items like a van, a tour bus, and a plane, etc. , and of course, you play songs that start off easy and get incredibly difficult like ABC-by the Jackson 5, Miss Murder by AFI and much more to play. Along with your band you need a manager to help you out along the way and with these comes choices such as playing a show for the fans, or Double or Nothing for the cash flow, with your choice of managers come even more choices that help you out in the game. For the game it-self what more do you want me to tell you other than me saying it’s Rock Band but, on the go with 41 Master Tracks (yes, I said that correctly). You pretty much play one phrase on an instrument of the song and when you complete that phrase you then move on to another phrase and progress from there. If you miss a beat though you’ll have to play the song even though other phrases are going down the screen and try to pick up from there. Rock Band Unplugged uses the PSP greatly and is really good for a PSP game although we are spoiled with the graphics that we see today. For the PSP this is the 1st game to have Downloadable Content for you to use right off your memory stick.

Issues with the game is that, the only person who is in sync with the songs is well the vocalist, you other bandmates will just pretty much do anything and it looks like their not going along with the sounds of the sounds even though your hitting all the notes. Another thing is that, the downloadable content is great but it won’t keep me coming back to play on my PSP, I think the main songs there are good as is even though their a mixture from the Rock Band games. Also there aren’t a lot of items in the game for you to fully customize your characters to you likings, hopefully there’s another Rock Band Unplugged coming out (That’s right EA/Harmonix you heard me).

Other than the issues listed above this game is really great for you to have on the go I mean, we’ve all asked for some type of rock game to take with us on the go (like the DS which has Guitar Hero), but Rock Band Unplugged makes things so much better for having a PSP.
