Alien Syndrom (PSP)

Alright, I got my hands on Alien Syndrom and have to say; if you feel like killing some aliens with either a melee or ranged weapon then this game is for you. This game wasn’t one of the easiest games for me to pickup and play, but could also be I’m one of the gamers who hates to read a ton of directions! I’m writing this review after playing the first 2 levels of them game.

Alright, so I picked Firebug as my class I’ve ended up using the melee weapon way more then I have the Flamethrower Mk1 which I started with. The Flamethrower Mk1 has… well no range hardly. My melee weapon seems to reach just as far as it and hits a wider area. I found that shooting the Flamethrower Mk1 sucked is the best way to put it. Once you start shooting you go into a strafe mode which makes it hard as hell to aim when a ton of monsters are coming at you.

This game I’d call a run and gun, but it’s more of a run and press circle none stop with your melee weapon. To me this game feels like Dynasty Warriors with a woman and aliens.

You have some type of pet that follows you named SCARAB that can craft items, which is really handy actually. Thanks to it I’ve upgraded like all of my armor and weapons. It can also craft Health Packs which I have to say is a must for this game. Not only does this SCARAB craft items it will also help you with fighting, although I must say it isn’t one of the best fighting partners. I would had really liked to see some better AI with it.

Well I guess I better also mention that this game has a “level” system where you level up for killing stuff, I don’t think I’ve gotten far enough into the game although I’m sure certain levels are required to wear things.

One thing I do have to say before I end this review is that they did a very bad job on the camera angles, I noticed quite a bit during the first 2 levels that I played that the camera will get blocked by something. I got very annoyed at this although it did not really hurt game-play sense all I had to do was press circle.

The best way to sum this game up is, rent it before you buy it! You may like this game, I myself did not care for it. This game does include multi player which I did not cover in this review. If there is a high demand for it I’ll gladly go over it.

This game is going to get a 50/100.
