Coming from legendary director Shinji Mikami and PlatinumGames, developers of this year’s new action title Bayonetta, Vanquish is an upcoming third-person shooter that is also being published under Sega’s wing.
Based in the near future, the game’s story centers on a protaognist outfitted in a trimmed armor suit. Where you have a gun that transforms in real-time, the events of this tale are about a war between Russia and the United States, and more specifically the enemy is that of robots.
Using gameplay elements such as a boost system that allows players to fasten enemy peril closer together and bullet-time, for slow but sweet moments, Vanquish could have something going for it.
What might also be of interest is that Vanquish is the first game that Shinji Mikami has headed up to step into the director chair since God Hand, a PlayStation 2 title released four years ago. Currently Vanquish has a “Winter” release date overseas in Japan, while it’s susceptible that other regions will not see the game until a late 2010/early 2011 window.
