A unique and challenging game
Braid originally released on the Xbox Live last year makes it’s way onto the PSN. Is Braid a hit or miss being one year late?
Braid is the story about a man named Tim, who is searching for a princess who was taken by a “monster”. When playing the game you learn about how their relationship was and how Tim is sad and want’s to apologize to get back what he once had. In order for Tim to have everything back he must complete a series of puzzles and collect puzzle pieces. These puzzle pieces tell Tim’s story little by little and make you more aware on what may have caused him and the princess to separate. As I’ve said previously, you must collect puzzle pieces in order for you to find out a little more about Tim’s separation with the princess. In order to get these puzzle pieces you have you complete puzzles using the ability of time to figure out these challenging and somewhat difficult puzzles.
Braids gameplay is unique in a way. Combining the elements of Super Mario meeting Prince of Persia the gameplay is fun to and when completing puzzles it will make you think. You start off small learning how to rewind to undo your actions and once you progress into more worlds, the puzzles get more tricky and will require you to think a lot. Yet, that is possibly the brilliance of Braid because the puzzles are challenging and once you complete them it’s a great feeling knowing you found a way to solve it.

The puzzles will take some time but it gives you a great feeling once done
Now for graphics are beautiful in this game and I admire the work put into it. The artwork for the games level and characters are really well done and from what you can see this isn’t just some downloadable game that wants your money, this game deserves it. Each world has a unique style to it and the art just helps you feel the vibe of the game yet, you’ll be seeing the same enemies over and over. The music is top-notch as well just like the art, you can feel the vibe of the game and how your emotions will react to it and you will react to the ending as it is a shocker.
Braid is overall a great downloadable title but, many would turn away from the $14.99 price tag that it has on PSN. Another thing many probably won’t like is how challenging the game is and in order for you to find out what really happened, you have to collect all the puzzle pieces in the game and some would find it impossible to complete these puzzles since they do range from easy to difficult. One more thing is if your like me, how short the game is once you figure out everything. Even when you finish the game there is little replay value because all you can do once done is do one of the speed runs in the game or start a new game over and I doubt many would do that.
Possibly a fun game to play yet a steep price to play at, Braid is a great addition to the PSN giving players a real thinking challenging if their up for it. Personally I think Braid is a great game to play but not at the $14.99 price tag.
