Okay so we all know God of War III is coming out next year in March so you’re sitting around asking yourself what can I do to prepare myself for God of War 3? The answer is the God of War Collection. Of course if you already have the PS2 originals you may be asking yourself is it really worth it to go ahead and get this collection?
The God of War is Back
First off I have been playing through this collection quite a Bit and it is pretty good. You will be amazed and the quality of remastering gone onto each game. Sony Santa Monica Studios did so well that this game could easily pass as a Next Gen Game arguably. Anti-Aliasing in this game plus the 60FPS really makes this collection stand out. These games were great when they were originally released and they are even better now this game presents itself well. Not to mention TONS of Trophies which are divided into 2 Games making it a GREAT game for Trophy Hunters on your list.
Unfortunately the extras that were added to the blu-ray disc are not in HD and the in-game cut-scenes are also not remastered. This is a real bummer considering everything else is so nicely polished. The Cinematic cut-scenes still look great though.
Same Great Gameplay
The Gameplay is still that same God of War Gameplay everyone loves but in 60FPS it feels much smoother. The game can start to get repetitive towards the end of God of War 1 and 2, and you may end up just playing the game to finish the story but the ability to level up your abilities keeps you entertained.
The Sound in the God of War Collection seems to be remastered as well. I listen to my PS3 Games with 5.1 surround sound and this game preformed nicely through all of them. The soundtrack in this game is unmatched even by games today with a rich orchestra it really gives you that Olympian feel.
Great Holiday Gift!
Lots of trophies gives this collection great Replay Value but there is more of a lasting appeal and it will take you about 30 to 50 hours just to beat both games. You can spend a full few months trying to get all the trophies too infact You might get them all by the time God of War 3 comes out!
Of course if that isn’t reason enough to go ahead and get the God of War Collection there is always the God of War 3 Demo! This game is the number one gift for any God’s of War on your holiday Shopping List!
