Only in the EU will you find this Special Edition

Kindgom Hearts: Birth by Sleep will be hitting shelves on September 10th so Square Enix decide to make the launch a little bit special (in the EU).

What makes the game special now? Well, EU Regions will be getting a special edition version of the game at launch. I know your wondering, what’s included in this special edition?

• Two KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep art prints.
• A 48-page hardback artwork book entitled “The Art of KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep”.

Not a lot but it’s something fans will surely enjoy. No word yet on if this will hit the states, but if it does we’ll be sure to let you know.

With anticipation of the latest PlayStation 3 firmware update that includes the long awaited PlayStation Plus feature, the PlayStation Blog has just released details as to what we can expect from the latest firmware update. Here are the details courtesy of the PlayStation Blog:

• PlayStation Plus: PlayStation Network users will be able to purchase membership to PlayStation Plus; a new subscription service on the PlayStation Network that provides you with new options to expand and enhance your gaming experience and enable you to gain an exclusive set of features and content. Friendly reminder, all of you PlayStation Network users will continue to have free access to PlayStation Network’s unmatched and expanding suite of new and exclusive features while PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to an exclusive and expanding set of gaming features, content and functionality.
• Photo Gallery: A new network based photo sharing feature is now available on the Photo Gallery. The enhancement allows you to upload, browse and comment on photos on Facebook and Picasa Web Album. You can also opt to share your photos between your PlayStation Network friends as well as print photos from Photo Gallery.
• Video Editor & Uploader: Video Editor and Uploader is a new function found on the XrossMediaBar (XMB), which enables you to edit, save and upload video files stored on the PS3 system to sites such as Facebook or YouTube.
• Five Star Rating Support: Users can rate the PlayStation Store content they have purchased with one to five star ratings.
• Power Save Settings: The default setting for PS3 System Auto-Off will be set at 2 hours, providing you with additional power save options and further improving power save features on the PS3 system.
• Additional Facebook Features: Now you can further integrate your PlayStation Network and Facebook accounts with this new application. The application allows you to display your PlayStation Network profile on your Facebook account, find out which of your Facebook friends have a PSN account and send them a PlayStation Network friend request, view your PSN friends’ online status and add the PlayStation Network application tab to your Facebook user profile.

As we all know there will be some hidden features upon the release of this update but until then, there is a lot to look forward to including PlayStation Plus.

Here is the Full Summary of the Sony E3 2010 Press Conference:

• Sony begins by saying that 3D is the way to play games and will completely blow you away.

• A Live 3D demo of Killzone 3 was played. The use of jetpacks were shown off and the build was only in Pre-Alpha stage. Killzone 3 will also support the PlayStation Move and will be released February 2011.

• A lot more games will support the 3D. Such as MLB’10 The Show, The Sly Cooper Collection, Mortal Kombat (Working Title), and NBA 2k11.

• “Sorcery” is an exclusive game that will use to the PlayStation Move. It is a 3rd person action adventure game that will let you cast spells on enemies, and let you use potions to gain more spells. You will also be able to combine spells to create an even powerful spell.

• Tiger Woods ’11 was shown off also using the move. The demonstrator says you must actually use the “Move” like a Golf Club to get the right swing. This will be updated via the PSN once the Move hits this fall.

• “Heros on the Move” is announced. 6 heros, Jak, Daxter, Sly, Bentley, Ratchet and Clank will be playable together for the first time.

• PlayStation has teamed up with Coca-Cola to support the Move.

• Kevin Butler makes his E3 debut, and tell us “not to believe everything on the internet.”

• Kevin Butler made one epic E3 Speech, Long Live Gaming!

• Launch Details for Move are announced. Europe will get the Move on September 15, September 19 for North America, and October 21 for Japan.

• The PlayStation Move will be available for $49.99, the Navigation controller will cost around $29.99. A Bundle for the Move, the Eye and Sports Champions will cost around $99.99. A PS3 Bundle with everything including a PS3 will cost around $399.99.

• A new campaign for the PSP will be supported featuring a new kid called Marcus and the campaign will be titled Marcus PSP.

• Invizaimals is a new exclusive title which will use a camera on your PSP.

• God of War: Ghost of Sparta teaser trailer was shown off.

• 70 new titles for the PSP will be available by December.

• PSN now has more than 50 million registered users in over 58 countries.

• The Tester Season 2 will be happening fairly soon.

• The PlayStation Video Store will come to Canada on July 1st.

• Sony has completely set up a virtual PlayStation E3 booth in Home for those that could not go to E3.

• Half a million creations were made in ModNation Racers.

• LittleBigPlanet 2 is shown at E3. New mini-games were played to show off the creativity you can have in LBP2.

• The Premium Services called PlayStation Plus, brings options to expand their gaming experiences.  It will begin later this month and a full year will cost $49.99 and $18.00 for 3 months.

• EA will be supporting the PS3 with exclusive content. Medal of Honor being one of them. An all new multiplayer map was unveiled which is in Afghanistan.

God of War has been in our hearts and minds for sometime now, and now this just something for those fans to help fill in the story and keep you interested a little longer.

The moment has arrived! Sony’s conference is here. We’re bringing you the key moments that happened at the conference:

• Sony begins by saying that 3D is the way to play games and will completely blow you away.

• A Live 3D demo of Killzone 3 was played. The use of jetpacks were shown off and the build was only in Pre-Alpha stage. Killzone 3 will also support the PlayStation Move and will be released February 2011.

• A lot more games will support the 3D. Such as MLB’10 The Show, The Sly Cooper Collection, Mortal Kombat (Working Title), and NBA 2k11.

• “Sorcery” is an exclusive game that will use to the PlayStation Move. It is a 3rd person action adventure game that will let you cast spells on enemies, and let you use potions to gain more spells. You will also be able to combine spells to create an even powerful spell.

• Tiger Woods ’11 was shown off also using the move. The demonstrator says you must actually use the “Move” like a Golf Club to get the right swing. This will be updated via the PSN once the Move hits this fall.

• “Heros on the Move” is announced. 6 heros, Jak, Daxter, Sly, Bentley, Ratchet and Clank will be playable together for the first time.

• PlayStation has teamed up with Coca-Cola to support the Move.

• Kevin Butler makes his E3 debut, and tell us “not to believe everything on the internet.”

• Kevin Butler made one epic E3 Speech, Long Live Gaming!

• Launch Details for Move are announced. Europe will get the Move on September 15, September 19 for North America, and October 21 for Japan.

• The PlayStation Move will be available for $49.99, the Navigation controller will cost around $29.99. A Bundle for the Move, the Eye and Sports Champions will cost around $99.99. A PS3 Bundle with everything including a PS3 will cost around $399.99.

• A new campaign for the PSP will be supported featuring a new kid called Marcus and the campaign will be titled Marcus PSP.

• God of War: Ghost of Sparta teaser trailer was shown off.

• 70 new titles for the PSP will be available by December.

Kart Racing with this much havoc on the PSP is something unique to see once you boot it up. Being developed from the team at SCE San Diego and United Front Games, they did what they could to make this “Play, Create, Share” racer fit on the PSP.

Take a nice cruise in the jungle

In ModNation racers you play as a graffiti artist named Tag who wants to join the MRC and compete his kart to become champion of the sport. You’ll be joined by your mom (who doesn’t count as a fan by the way) and Chief, an MRC veteran who helps you stay on the right track and gives you a bit of his wisdom. Once you boot up, you’ll be introduced to a slick looking menu that is a bit different than the PS3 version. Here you’ll find the career mode where you can start up your career as a ModNation Racer or just place a single race, play with your friends or take it online against other people around the world. There’s also the community area where you can download custom made Mods, share your own creations or to check the leaderboards. The menu’s are simple and you’ll have no trouble getting into a race.

These two will provide humor as you rise up among the elite. Gameplay for ModNation Racers PSP is pretty good as far as races go, they start out easy but become challenging as you move along but, I felt as the AI wasn’t there as much to prevent you from winning. From time to time they will attack but then they usually get caught in traps around the level or sometimes get stuck. In the beginning you’ll learn the basics of how to use everything from power-ups to learning how to take out your opponents by side-swiping them and stomping them.

Better watch out cause that rocket is coming for you!

As you read yes, you can take out your opponents by two ways. However, for side-swiping and stomping you’ll need to earn boost to fill up your boost meter. Boost is what you get by taking the lead in a race, hitting the other racers with a weapon power up, drifting, or using your shield to absorb an attack. Once you have your boost meter filled up, you can use it to boost past the other racers, shield yourself from weapons that are on the attack and stomp/sideswipe your opponents out of the race for a couple seconds. All of these tactics are necessary for you to get to the top and plus their really awesome.

Power-ups are obtained while in the race, you can get stuff like rockets, sonic booms, a speed boost, a lightning bolt, and finally a speed boost. Unlike the PS3 version, you can only collect one power-up and use only one. On the PS3 version, you can collect three to make the power-up even powerful but on the PSP side it doesn’t feel as powerful as you would expect to see on the PS3 version. The sounds for the game are pretty good as well as the choice of music which is great for a kart racer since it’s pretty unique to hear such a soundtrack for a game like this as it does put you in the racing mood. Drifting is where the fun happens, in every race you’ll want to drift no matter what to fill up your boost meter and take the lead on the competition but at times, drifting can feel a bit heavy and you can sometimes crash into walls very easily if you don’t drift correctly. To get this out of the way, visually ModNation PSP is a bit of an eye sore. When creating my character it seemed like the my character was too blurry and had a lot of jagged edges. For racing however, everything looks great. One minute you’ll be in a alpine city and the next you’ll be racing in the desert looking at each environment that looks pretty good especially for a PSP game. Cut-scenes look great but their not in-game unlike it’s bigger brother.

The MRC can be shocking at times

Let’s move away from the racing and visuals, and jump right into the customization. For your character you can customize him/her with what the developers were able to put in the PSP version. There is a lot of stuff that you can unlock and use to trick out your ride. When you race in the career mode, there will be certain tasks that you can do that will unlock more items for you to use on your ride and your character. Making your own custom track is also another cool feature. It’s really simple how you can make your own track without any hassle. The developers really wanted to make customization easy and I can say that they did. I was able to make a track in about a couple a minutes and it was very easy. For character customization, it’s simple but it feel’s like there isn’t a lot of items that you can use since the PSP is very limited. Other than that, it’s really great to see how easy it is to create and share your ideas.

Things can get crazy and sparks will fly!
